White Possum Hazelnut Liqueur
This hazelnut liqueur is made from 100% Australian-grown hazelnuts, cane spirit (white rum), organic cacao, and is infused with 'aromatic roots' for added complexity. It's a far cry from commercial syrups infused with artificial flavours you might find in your chain-cafe hazelnut latte. On the nose, those aromatic roots get a little in the way of a clean hazelnut aroma, presenting more like an amaro than a nut liqueur, with lots of Christmas-cake spices dominating, along with the cacao expressing itself nicely. The Christmas spices continue through the palate, especially up front, and the finish is syrupy, with the sugar starting to become a little cloying. Overall, it's tasty and well-made, but it’s not quite there in terms of hazelnut liqueur. I’d be more inclined to call this an aromatic spiced liqueur with hazelnut undertone.
