White Possum KINA Aromatised Wine Aperitif
White Possum Kina is an aromatised white wine aperitif modelled on the now defunct Kina Lillet, which was made famous in the recipe for the Vesper Martini – James Bond’s favourite cocktail. Aromatised white wines of this type from Europe have become favourite cocktail ingredients among modern bartenders. White Possum Kina exhibits rich notes of bitter orange peel, the aromatics definitely more prominent than the wine itself. The sugar is understated and well integrated, and those bitter notes mean good grip through the finish for a delicious and well-balanced aperitif, if not one that is a little heavier than its European counterparts. In a Vesper, its weighty, bittersweet profile is a touch overpowering so, if you prefer a robust martini, this Kina will work well, but I’d opt for this in weightier cocktails like a Corpse Reviver #2 or a white negroni.
