Our Review
Moonfish celebrates the varied subregions of Great Southern with parcels of fruit sourced from mature vineyards. The brand was established by Sydney-based couple Andrew Campbell and Adina Aron, ably guided by winemaker James Kellie known for his work at the celebrated Harewood Estate. Moonfish wines aim for drinkability over inherent complexity, though deliver near-dictionary definitions of varieties from their respective subregions. Pinot noir and riesling seem to excel, with vivacious, fruit-forward examples the mainstay. Shiraz finds depth and concentration from its Frankland River base, while chardonnay from Denmark is of a fuller flavour, albeit tempered by the regional swish of saline, sea spray character, a hallmark of the vineyards planted proximate to the coastline. -MIKE BENNIE
