George's Folly

What started as a plan for a family retreat – for George, Jodie and their 3 children – quickly became ‘George’s Folly’, as it was George who traded in his initial plans for a property overlooking the Murray for one involving a 40ha vineyard (planted in '98) in Currency Creek. While the bulk of the fruit is intended for commercial markets, George has tried his hand at grafting some of the existing vines to both French and Italian varieties – roussanne, pinot noir, gamay, sauvignon gris, montepulciano, saperavi and nero d'Avola – with the intent to produce wines that he and Jodie enjoy drinking. -KATRINA BUTLER
