Our Review

Sidewood Estate is owned by Owen and Cassandra Inglis who operate it as a winery and cidery. Situated in the Onkaparinga Valley, the vines weather the cool climate of the Adelaide Hills. Significant expenditure on regeneration of the vineyards was already well underway when Sidewood invested over $12 million in the winery, increasing capacity from 500t to 2000t each vintage and implementing sustainable improvements – it purports to be the largest sustainably certified winery in the region. Sidewood maintains 4 premium vineyards located in Nairne, Echunga, Charleston and its flagship Mappinga vineyard in Oakbank. A multimillion-dollar restaurant, cellar door and cidery opened in '20. Wines are released under the Sidewood Estate, Stablemate and Mappinga labels. -JAMES HALLIDAY

Cellar Door

Information

During spring and summer months our cellar door is open from 10am- 5pm 7 days a week. off season we're open 11-5pm 7 days. Bookings are recommended but happy to accept walk ins. We have masterclasses that include Sabrage where we teach guests how to open a bottle of our traditional method sparkling with a sabre before tasting through our premium sparkling wines as well as customisable tastings through our full range of Sparkling, white, rose and red wines.

Sidewood Estate offers a relaxed yet premium food and wine experience in the heart of Hahndorf, with both indoor and outdoor seating available. Guests can enjoy dining inside our contemporary restaurant or alfresco on the terrace overlooking the Adelaide Hills, weather permitting.
Our food offering is led by a seasonal, produce-driven menu designed to pair seamlessly with our cool-climate wines and ciders. The menu ranges from refined shared plates and wood-oven pizzas to more substantial dishes, with options available to accommodate a variety of dietary requirements.
For those looking for a lighter experience, curated cheese and charcuterie boards are available, as well as casual grazing options ideal for pairing with a tasting or a glass of wine. Picnic-style experiences and larger group dining are also available by prior arrangement.
Bookings are highly recommended, particularly on weekends, public holidays, and during peak tourism periods. Group dining, private events, and bespoke food and wine experiences can be arranged in advance. Sidewood’s food offering is designed to be approachable yet elevated, making it equally suited to a long lunch, casual tasting visit, or special celebration, all set within one of the Adelaide Hills’ most awarded wine tourism destinations.
