Marionette Marionette Bitter Curacao Amaro

Marionette’s Bitter Curacao is their answer to Campari, allowing faithful consumers of Australian spirits to make all-Australian negronis when combined with local gin and vermouth. The Marionette is bright and more natural-smelling than the imported counterparts, although boasting perhaps a little less clarity. There’s an almost rainwater freshness that I love compared to Campari’s more peppery undertones. Lighter and brighter on the palate, the Marionette is less syrupy and less bitter than Campari, probably ending up somewhere between Campari and Aperol in intensity. In a negroni, it shows up perfectly, more delicate and nuanced than one made with Campari, and it offers some lovely floral, fresh citrus notes that integrate well with the gin.
