Ambra Blood Orange Aperitif

This Blood Orange Aperitif is Ambra's bittersweet and citrusy answer to classic Italian aperitifs like Aperol. Specifically, Ambra want you to use this in a spritz, and the gorgeous pinky-orange colour certainly evokes sunny afternoon drinks and garden parties. There’s plenty of bright, bittersweet citrus on the nose, with the earthiness of gentian adding real depth and complexity alongside the juicy blood orange notes. On the palate, the initial candied orange sweetness quickly retreats to a fresh, pithy bitterness that lingers through the finish, and the juicy texture really helps to carry it all through. This product is a clear upgrade from the most famous Italian brands it aims to replace; the presence of real fruit and high-quality botanicals is immediately apparent from the first whiff. Most importantly, this is an inherently delicious drink for those who don’t mind a bit of bitterness.

On the rocks as an aperitif, in a spritz with prosecco, or in a negroni with your favourite citrus-driven gin and a good local sweet vermouth for a juicier, less bitter version of the classic version
