Eureka Distilling describes its Sydney Standard vodka as 'smooth AF' and 'perfect for mixing', and, at $60 per bottle, it’s price competitive with imports like Ketel One and Finlandia. Clean and sweet on the nose with no rough edges; there's a softness that lends itself well to simple mixed drinks. The palate is also sweet and soft, with a decent grip through the finish, and there's a lingering olive savoury note that makes me think this would show up well in a dirty martini. While certainly expressing more character than most perfectly neutral vodkas, there’s nothing confronting here, so this bottle is well worth a try if you’re looking to support local over imports without breaking the bank.
