From the organisation behind The World’s 50 Best Restaurants and The World’s 50 Best Bars, comes the inaugural launch of 50 Next – a list that aims to inspire, empower and connect young individuals pushing boundaries and shaping our next generation of foodies.
50 Next targets 35-year-olds and under from a range of food and drink backgrounds including producers, educators, tech creators and activists.
Among those recognised is Sydney-based chef and butcher Josh Niland who has transformed the way we cook, age, transport and store fish. Author of the highly acclaimed, The Whole Fish Cookbook, Josh embraces a sustainable, scale-to-tail approach to fish. He is the owner of Australia’s first sustainable fishmonger, Fish Butchery, and Sydney’s much-celebrated fish eatery, Saint Peter.Chef Josh Niland was among those named in the inaugural 50 NEXT.
Josh is joined by sustainability duo, Jo Barrett and Matt Stone, and Worimi man, educator Josh Gilbert, who is pioneering Indigenous farming practices.
While the announcement was held in the virtual realm this year, 2022 will see a live event come to fruition in the region of Biscay, Spain once restrictions lift.
